Project Description

This installation uses butterflies as a repeating motif across several public spaces in the ship. At both the Front and Aft atrium areas, groups of butterflies appear on ceilings and walls, introducing the theme to passengers as they move through these gateways. The motif continues into Central Park, the large space at the center of the ship, where butterflies increase in size and number, forming a visible connection with the atrium installations.

Here, a variety of butterfly forms—crafted in different sizes and colors—populate the walls. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the engineered hanging system designed to withstand ship movement, to the layered construction and patterned wings of each piece. The butterflies are intended as a gentle and accessible symbol, bringing continuity to the ship’s interior and reflecting the client’s vision for a singular, cohesive artwork that is visible from multiple vantage points.

This approach creates a sense of progression, with the butterfly motif unfolding as passengers move from the entries toward the core of the ship. The installation encourages visual exploration, reinforcing Central Park’s role as a central gathering space while linking it to the ship’s overall design.
