Conceived during the first wave of Covid as a celebration to life.
‘Rafflesia’, which takes its name from the largest flower in the world,
is an other-worldly flower hanging from the ceiling daring sense of scale and reality.
4 meter in diameter with faceted gold leaf clad petals, the flower picks up color tones
from its surroundings which is merged with a rich tapestry of reflections and shadows.
The piece changes feel depending on the time of day, the colors surrounding and
the light and mood of the space it inhabits.
Nature offers rich layered experiences and with advanced visual information it triggers emotions,
memories, feelings and a sense of discovery. Being immersed in nature offers the opportunity
to focus the moment and escape the mundane.
‘Rafflesia’ recalls the exotic, escapism, and adventure which, for a while, was inaccessible to all.
